Frequent questions about Escape Rooms

All our stories are a challenge in themselves, because this is the essence of an Escape Game. Different stories contain different types of tasks. We will be happy to give you personal advice about the difficulties of each Escape Room. What seems difficult for one player, is easy for other players.

Every story not only demands your mind, but also a certain amount of mobility. But don't worry, you don't have to be a high performance sportsman. All players should be able to climb stairs or pass through narrow and low passages. In an Escape Room you are exposed to acoustic signals as well as changes in light and brightness. Our location and games are not barrier-free. If you have special questions, we will be happy to help you by phone. 

For pregnancies in advanced stadiums, we advise against the story of the Executioner and the Pharaoh's Curse and recommend our story Obsession for 3-6 players.

Depending on the story it can get scary in an Escape Room. We work with light and sound effects, fog and other stage equipment. The last thing we want is for a participant to feel frightened or trapped. Completely on the contrary, your team should be able to leave everyday life behind and feel comfortable in a complex and detailed room. You can always recognize the setting by the details of the story.

For Versus Mode we provide you with 2 identical Escape Rooms featuring the same story One Night in Hong Kong. This means equal conditions for both teams. One team consists of up to 6 players. During the game there is no exchange between both teams - how to organize a possible competition is entirely up to your imagination. Both teams can then share their experiences without revealing too much of the story.

No. Each room has its maximum number of players which we do not exceed. However, it is possible to book an additional Escape Room. Simply search here in our booking calendar for several stories that start at the same time and put the dates individually into your shopping cart.

Escape Rooms are a cross-generational experience. Since we developed our stories for an adult audience, the Executioner and One Night in Hong Kong is not open to minors or 16-year-olds. The Pharaoh's Curse is also suitable for players from 10 years accompanied by two adults. From the age of 14 our stories Obsession and Checkpoint Charlie  are available without adult accompaniment.

According to § 312g Abs. 2 Nr. 9 BGB a revocation is excluded, because it is a leisure activity, which provides for a specific date for the performance. This applies regardless of the chosen payment method.

Our goodwill regulations:
You can cancel or rebook appointments free of charge up to 7 days before the event. Please send an email to hello@houseoftales.de with the booking number and the change request.

Within the 7 days to 48 hours before the event, you can rebook free of charge or convert the ticket price into a voucher. The voucher is valid for 6 months.

Cancellations and rebookings made less than 48 hours before the start of the event will incur a cancellation fee of €50 per room/rally. The remaining amount will be converted into a voucher.

If more than two rooms/stories have been booked, cancellation must be made at least 14 days before the start of the event. If this deadline is not met, the ticket price for the minimum number of people for the booked rooms/rallies will be charged for each booked room/rally.

The student rate can be adjusted up to a minimum number of 15 tickets.

All appointments booked as part of a promotion are exempt from these cancellation conditions. In this case, the cancellation conditions on the promotion page apply.

There is no entitlement to our goodwill regulations.

As long as the new total number of players is still within the capacity of the booked story, it is no problem to appear with more participants. The price will be adjusted accordingly on site. If you need another escape room, you can simply book one online.

The number of players can vary within the minimum and maximum limits of the story. The unused ticket will be converted into a voucher.

In case of an uncertain number of participants, first assume the minimum number of participants and select the appropriate number of escape rooms and book online. The final price will then be adjusted on site according to the additional players. You can bring as many players as will fit into the maximum number of stories booked.

Each voucher has a certain value. This value can be used for any order in the House of Tales, regardless of the history or the total size of your order. After selecting your desired date, in the second step of your order, you will find a free space to enter your voucher code. The voucher value will be credited to your order immediately. If the order amount exceeds the value of the voucher, you can pay the difference simply by online payment. If the order amount is lower than your voucher value, the remaining amount will be retained and you can use your voucher code for a new order. It is not possible to withdraw the remaining amount. Each voucher is valid for up to one year from the date of issue.

When paying on site you can pay in cash or by EC and credit card. For online bookings it is also possible to pay during the order by Paypal, bank transfer or credit card. The desired payment method can be selected during the order process.

Each participant should be present 15 minutes before the time booked so that the game master can instruct the participants how to play the game. Every game at the House of Tales is a live event where the Escape Room is made ready to play for every booking and is only blocked for the booked period. Delays and postponements of the start of the game are therefore not possible. In the event of a delay on the part of the players, time may be deducted. In the event that the following guests are disadvantaged, the House of Tales staff may also cancel your game.

Before and after the game you can buy a selection of non-alcoholic drinks. During the games, in the Escape Room itself, no drinks or food are allowed.

The maximum playing time is 60 minutes. In addition there are about 15 minutes of instruction by the game leader. It is best to plan with 90 minutes for the appointment.

Good mood and curiosity is the most important thing. If you want to pay on the spot, you can use cash, EC or credit cards. If you have booked a story with an age limit, please make sure that all players can prove their age on request. School classes or kids' birthdays should bring a consent form for each child under the age of 18.

No, I'm afraid dogs can't play.

Generally yes, single children up to 6 years don't pay at the House of Tales. Due to the settings and the tasks we don't recommend to book the Executioner or One Night in Hong Kong. Even for the Pharaoh´s curse you need free hands.
